About Me — Panas Karampampas, PhD (St Andrews)
Technical Diving Instructor | Educator | Researcher
Where Depth Meets Meaning

My name is Panas Karampampas, and diving has become both my profession and the way I understand the world. I entered the water long before I ever imagined teaching it—drawn first by curiosity, then by challenge, and eventually by a deep appreciation of what it means to move with skill and intention underwater.
I am a TDI/SDI Instructor and an SSI Assistant Instructor Trainer, teaching across a broad range of recreational and technical pathways—from Open Water all the way through Advanced/Hypoxic Trimix and very soon, rebreather training. Whether you’re just starting out or refining advanced skills, I focus on calm, controlled, and repeatable performance that prepares you for real-world diving—not just a certification card.
My approach is shaped by both my teaching experience and my academic background as a researcher of maritime and underwater practices. I treat diving not only as a technical discipline, but as a relationship: between people, knowledge, risk, and the sea. This perspective helps me teach with clarity, patience, and respect for the fact that every diver learns differently.
I am frequently travelling across Europe and I am always happy to organise courses at your local dive centre. From recreational certifications to advanced technical programmes, I enjoy collaborating with new teams, meeting new colleagues, and creating training environments where divers and instructors can learn from one another. If your centre is interested in hosting courses, workshops, mentoring, or joint teaching projects, I’m always open to connecting.
Across all levels, my training philosophy stays consistent:
- Competence before complexity.
- Calm, precise, sustainable skill-building.
- Thinking divers, not just certified divers.
Good training expands your possibilities, not your stress. If you want to explore deeper, build solid foundations, or bring high-quality technical training to your local community, I would be delighted to work with you.
Where depth meets meaning — always.
