Professional Diving Courses
Professional diving education should do more than add certifications. It should develop reliable dive leaders, stronger instructors, and technical educators who can teach with precision, structure, and judgement.
At Deep Horizons, professional training is organised around three routes: entering the professional pathway, expanding your instructor portfolio, and progressing toward technical instruction.
Professional Entry Pathway: Become a Dive Professional or Instructor
This pathway is for divers who want to move from personal diving competence into professional responsibility.
Becoming a dive professional is not simply about reaching the next certification level. It means learning how to supervise, brief, demonstrate, manage risk, support different students, and make sound decisions in real training environments.
This route is suitable for divers preparing for Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, Open Water Scuba Diver Instructor, Scubility Instructor, First Response Training Instructor, or equivalent professional-level progression. Training focuses on standards, teaching practice, demonstration-quality skills, student management, and the transition from capable diver to dependable professional.
The aim is not simply to become certified. The aim is to become someone students and dive centres can rely on.

Instructor Development Pathway: Expand What You Can Teach
SDI Instructor Specialty Courses are for certified instructors who want to advance their teaching career by expanding the range of specialties they are qualified to teach.
These ratings are not just additional cards. They increase your teaching scope, improve your professional profile, support student retention, and allow you to build more complete training pathways for your own students.
The focus is not only on knowing the specialty as a diver. It is on learning how to teach it: how to structure sessions, brief and debrief effectively, manage common student errors, assess performance, and adapt training to different conditions.
Price: €280 per specialty, including the upgrade fee.
Package: 5 specialties for €660, including upgrade fees.
Solo Diver Instructor and Scubility Instructor may be included only after discussion due to their specific requirements. Please email us to arrange a video call.

Technical Instructor Pathway: Teach Technical Diving Strategically
This pathway is for technical divers who are already instructors and want to progress toward teaching technical-level courses.
Technical instruction requires more than personal technical diving experience. It requires the ability to teach complex procedures clearly, manage higher-risk training environments, assess readiness, and build divers progressively rather than pushing them through isolated certifications.
Our approach is strategic, research-informed, and evidence-based. Training uses structured learning progressions, clear performance criteria, deliberate practice, realistic scenario design, and reflective debriefing. Technical students need more than information. They need disciplined habits, decision-making capacity, and reliable performance under task loading.
This is the flagship professional route for instructors who want to teach technical diving with precision, consistency, and educational depth.
