Technical Diving
In technical diving, trained divers go beyond the limits of recreational diving. Tec divers will tell you that for them, it’s all about the challenge and the adventure of exploring places that hardly anyone has seen before.
Technical diving includes one or more of the following:
- Dives deeper than 40 meters / 130 feet
- Mandatory, staged decompression
- Diving in overhead environments with no direct ascent to the surface, with a linear distance from the surface of more than 40 meters / 130 feet
- Accelerated decompression and/or the use of different breathing gas mixtures during the dive
- The use of extensive equipment and technologies
In technical diving, the surface is often not directly accessible in an emergency, so these divers require very specific procedures, extensive equipment, and intensive training to manage and avoid the additional risks and potential hazards.
